Toys R Us Buy 2 For $10.99 Sale (Feb 27 To March 05)

Hmm. I sense a pattern here.

The last time we got this fantastic sale was the last week of January into February. So it's that last week of Febuary into March.

Marvel Universe Wishlist!

Hello out there in cyberspace! This is a post that like Nacho Libre wearing "strechy pants", is just for fun.

Before I begin I have to explain that, fan's rarely make a decision in the character selecting process. While it's true that Star Wars fans get their vote. (And then months later have to see their decisions warm the pegs!)
Most other's are just picking the timely release of a set of characters already waiting to be made.

If you have noticed many of the current figures in the Marvel Universe line were released in the Marvel Legends line. So Hasbro is placing it's money on the sure thing by releasing characters that action figure fans are already familiar with.

Toy Haul NYC

Today I decided to check out the Target on Main Street in Flushing. It seems to be my own secret place. As I have been finding stuff there lately. And it's not to far from my house.

Anyways I went in and LO! and BEHOLD! they had the Thor figures in stock. There were 2 Frost Giants, but no Loki's or Odin's. They had the aforementioned hammer, but they didn't have the Nerf one.

Regular figures were $7.99. And I was tempted to pick up the Secret Sword Thor, since it's the only one that comes close to the Movie Thor and it has lots of articulation.

But I'm gonna hold off till Sunday, to see if Target or Toys R Us has some kind of sale.

Spider-Woman: Marvel Universe Figure Review

J. Drew became mighty popular when she joined the New Avengers. But she was popular before that. For a time she was tagging along with Logan when he was "Patch" in Madripoor. But even before that she had her own animated series in the 70's!

Thor Lightning Hammer Review (Kinda)

I saw this at Target today. And even though I had commented on the Marvel Toy Fair video that I would pick this one up over the foam one, I was severley dissapointed with the actual product.

The most dissapointing thing is that the block that makes up the head of the hammer is made out of rubber, but it's a deflated rubber that kinda reminds me of a rubber ducky or Dulkie if you want to be more in universe.

There is a button on the handle that makes the top part of the hammer light up. And it makes thunder sounds. I like that there is some "Lord of the Rings" type writing on the light up part. But sadly the inscription about someone being worthy is not on the hammer.

It requires 3 AAA batteries. And it says on the face of the hammer not to strike anyone with it. Here's hoping that the Nerf one is the same size. I like my hammers solid!

Juggernaut: Marvel Universe Figure Review

I'm Unstoppable! -Juggernaut X-Men :Children Of The Atom

A written review before a video review? Say it isn't so!

How To Be A Toy Collector: Part 1 (Why I Collect and What)

We have phases in life that we have to go through. If you don't date enough girls, you wind up having a midlife crisis. LOL.

Most collectors collect now because they either had a collection and mom gave it away. Or they gave it up to chase girls in their teens. Or they haven't out grown it. I told my co-worker Ellie that I wouldn't be collecting when I'm in my 50's.

Marvel.com's Video from Toy Fair

This is a great video of lots of the Marvel stuff that was on display at Toy Fair 2011.
Even though I like the Thor hammer, I think I'll try out the Nerf one. Mr. Falcon is a fan of Arnim Zola and I'd be great if we could get him in the line. Alone with more of Cap's baddies.

The reason there are so many comic series figures in the first wave of Cap toys is because Hasbro didn't have anything to go by when production started. Which is a good thing for us!

Enjoy the video. I don't watch "The Watcher" because I think that the Marvel Universe in the comics is such garbage. But the characters will always remain awesome to the point you want them to.

Who is the G-Man?!!!

The G-Man is a Hasbro employee that I have befriended in my many toy hauls. I think the moment that cemented my friendship with him was when at the Queens Place Target I had reached the Marvel Legends pegs first and picked up a Juggernaut.

He said he wanted it for his son and I gave it to him.

But he has relevant info that can come in handy. For instance, he was the first to inform me of the SDCC Stan Lee/Spider-Man and lets me know what toys he's seen and where.

Toy Haul NYC

This ones a little late. I went out with my Bro on Wednesday the 16th and we hit up a couple of stores.

So the firts one was Target. They had the Marvel Universe pegs full because there was a promotion of buying Marvel vs Capcom 3 and you get one figure free. They also had a tag on the comic packs showinf that they're reduced to $14.99 which is a good price. But it seems that Sentry and Spider-man will forever warm the pegs.

I hope that I can find a whole lot of them on clearance. I like the Sentry and the Spider-Man is ok. But I think we have too many Spider-Men.

The Bucky Wave

Say Hello Bucky! "Hello Bucky."

Great on film, not so great on paper.

So when I was looking to get some figures when TRU had the 2 for 10 sale  (From Jan 30-Feb 5) I was wondering what Trench Coat Guy would be swiping before I got to the pegs. I looked at the back of the Ol' Timey Captain America's card and I saw Bucky. And I was like "Darn he's swiping Bucky!"

But as Fate would have it, that week I found him at Target along with Ms. Marvel and Union Jack.

Toy Haul NYC

Today is Saint Valentines Day, and since I love toys I decided to go out and get some! I also wanted to get out of the house and I had to ship some stuff. I'm gonna start posting my hauls here because my webcam isn't very reliable, and I don't want to have to upload a video and have the upload fail on me.

First I caught the Q20A bus to the Target in College Point. They had some House of M Spider-Man's and 1 Bucky. I will talk about him and his case in another post. They had the Transformers Crossover SUV iron Man for 9.99. I almost bought it. But I wasn't feeling it. Next time baby. TJ Maxx had nothing.

Went to the Toys R Us at the College Point Cinema, they has 2 Kitty Prides, Union Jack and Iron Patriot. I can't remember if they had Bucky also. Or was Bucky there last week? Oh well.

I went to Pathmark in College Point to pick up School Wolverine and Havok. I had seen them there on Friday, but the $12.99 price tag was off putting and I wanted to see if there w…

Marvel Universe:Toy Fair 2011 Sunday

So Saturday into Sunday most toy websites started reporting on the toys that were shown off at the New York Toy Fair. As I mentioned a few post ago I was really looking forward to Marvel Universe figures.

And Hasbro delivered!

Here is some new stuff that I was excited about, these are press release photos they are sent out to toy websites, remember just like with Captain Marvel the final product will vary:

Toy Topic: Release Dates on Toys

While listening to a podcast, and seeing a post on a blog about the Target DCPI number for the Thor Figures and talking to my friend form Hasbro (The G-Man) I realize that release dates are kind of a double egded sword.

The Thor Figures have a big sticker on the box that says the release date is in March (the 1st) and while this is a bane on any collectors that happen to want these figures. I don't care! The Thor figures suck all kinds of dirty things. lol

But this isn't the only time this has happend. I remember back when the first Transformers movie was coming out we had the same thing.

As you might be able to tell, this only applies to the first wave of a specific line. After the toys are in stores no more relase dates.

Wouldn't it be nice if you knew when figures come out? Japan has us beat!

In Japan specifically with Gundam merchandise you can find out when a model kit is supposed to hit the market. But the way things work in Japan don't always work in the United …

Captain America and Wolverine: Marvel Universe Greatest Battles Comic Pack

Lo! There came a day when I decided to do a written review and it was good! Or so I think.

New York Toy Fair 2011 is just around the corner!

To bad I can't make it. The event is not open to the public, but to press and retailers. Maybe next year I'll be famous enough and my company big enough to get there.

Here is what I know we will be seeing at the toy fair.

-Toys shown at other conventions but haven't hit retail yet.
-Transformers from "Dark of The Moon" (they will all suck) mainly the lead transformers.
-No Gundams whatsoever.

Here is what I am looking forward to seeing, and will be stealing pics of for my own site. lol

The One True Blog!

Yep 2nd time is the charm. I did a video on my aries0083 youtube channel asking if I should keep all my stuff in one place or spead myself thin like Leo Laporte.

3 people voted on keeping all my stuff together. So I will be posted an "I'm moving!" post on all my other blogs.

On this blog I will keep it action figure related (gundams count as "action figure model kits") And lay off the other stuff.

I've put alot of hard work into my other blogs, so I'm not gonna delete them. I thank you for your support of this blog. Your feedback is aprreciated.

Toy Topic: Toy Returns

I've worked in the retail business since 1994, and while nobody likes getting stuff brought back to them as a retailer, it does assure the customer that in the event that the item doesn't work out of the box that they are not out of there hard earned cash.

But like may things this can be abused.

As a retailer you have to take the customers word for it, and if they say the item was flawed from the get go, in order to keep a paying customer, you have to take the item. What happens from there I don't know. But it's possible that the item is sent back to the maufactuer and they give the retailer a new one.

I have heard stories of jerkery that would make your blood boil. And since I know you want your blood to boil I will recount them for you!

TALES OF JERKERY!

Toy Topic: Toy Scalpers

Ahhh..It's a beautiful thing to see the pegs full of an assortment of action figures. The same thing full of one type of action figure is a bad thing.

Now I still hate scalpers, even though I'm sure in someone else's eyes I'm classified as one. And right now I fit the bill. So what are the things I think in my head when I see "Trench coat Guy" my arch nemesis? (I'm sure he has no idea who I am, even though he probably recognizes me.)

Introduction to Aries0083's Action Figure Blog

Hello, many of you may know me as the old man who plays with Nerf guns and reviews toys. Also you may know me as the guys who has a lot of stuff going on.

This year (2011) I want to make an effort and improve the quality of my work. My blogs in the past have been either single minded (Gundamcast) or sporadic as heck (One Man's Hobby) but in an effort to monetize and optimize my hobby, I want to bring every thing together.

The title of the blog and it's url have my username and the words that I feel are best associated with what I do. (I should have added the word "review" but it's too late for that)

I have been collecting and reviewing figures for years, and it's something I enjoy. It wasn't until a few years ago that I discovered I could make money doing something I loved.

Thank you for visiting this blog and I hope that it will help you in making the decision to buy what ever it is you want, to try something new. Or just get another guys opinion of som…
