Captain Marvel: Marvel Universe Figure Review

Alrighty Then!

Why Did I Buy This Toy?:For some odd reason I like Captain Marvel. He hasn't been in any great crossovers, and about the biggest thing he did was die. But it's the Father/Son relationship in the comics that Marvel is best known for to me. Plus he would look good battling Thanos.

Now I didn't expect a Captain Marvel figure from the Universe line for a while. But every so often Hasbro does the right thing, picks a cool character (at least to me) and
 puts them in the line.

Where Did I Get This?: Toys R Us 2 for $10.99 at the store in Times Square New York. The first time I saw him there I thought I had chanced upon a  rare figure! But this figure is fairly easy to find.

Face Sculpt: This is one of the best faces I've seen on a figure this small. I think it has to do with the eyes. Because they're blank you don't get the Captain America stare.

Be proud of your mug, Captain!

Articulation: He has the standard Marvel Universe articulation. Which when I update this pic I will show here on the site. I believe this body was first used with the black costume Spider-man, and it sees a re-use here.
This figure has:
  • ball jointed neck
  • ball hinged shoulders
  • swivel biceps
  • hinged elbows
  • ball hinged torso
  • ball jointed hips
  • swivel wrist
  • double hinged knees
  • ball hinged ankles

Pompadores Rule!

Accessories: As of series 3, all you get is the stand. Which is good enough. If I were in charge of Hasbro's Marvel Division. I would add minuturized comic books, like the ones that used to come with the He-Man figures and The Super Powers toys from back in the day. Hasbro has to do something about that, especially
since the New G.I. Joes come with so much.

But please no dumb GIANT missle launchers. I'd love for them to have some kids play test these.

Up and Away!

Final Verdict: Flying characters really need some new kind a base to make the figures really look good. A lot of times if you're doing  a group shot these would come in handy. I wish the Nega bands were cast in plastic instead of painted on. And like with Ms. Marvel we should have gotten some plastic blasts, if Hasbro's gonna skimp on the paperwork.

Should you Buy It?: This fan says yes! But as always the cheaper you can get it the better. Lately I haven't seen Series 3 in stores. I know they are not gone because this wave belongs to 2011. My friend the G-Man was talking about stores doing their re-sets. But I have no idea what that means. I suggested they were doing inventory. And that's when he mentioned re-sets.

Look For it On A Local Shelf Near You!

Ok that's all for now, thank you for you're continued support (whoever you are out there in internetland) and I'll see ya in the next post! Laterz!

To end the year of doom 2012, I'm making this list and checking it twice.

Sadly the most you will find in stores is series 6. All these figures are awesome. EVEN THE SABRE PILOT!!! (with his obnoxious eyebrows).

So here you go, from 10 to 1...

 10. Carter:

The leader of Noble Team and one of the coolest armor designs comes in at number 10. Not because he's the worst, but because it might be too obvious if he's number 1. I love the Commando armor, the blue color and the distinctive markings.
