Toy Haul: 03-27-11

Hey there true believers! I know it's a little late, but this is what I got and what I did on Sunday.

First off let me say that I was disappointed that Toys R Us didn't have it's 2 for 10 sale this week. If it doesn't happen next week then. I'm gonna stop hoping. I'll keep on checking the site every Sunday but I won't be hyped about the last week of the month. Which is when I predict the sale will always happen.

So I went to Target and I was hoping to find Grey Hulk and Moon Knight. I was lucky to find Spector, but no Banner. :(

Toy Topic: Marvel Legends Retrospective

After I watched this video, it got my mind going. I was gonna leave the reviewer a comment but realized that it it would be a long one.

I kind of touched on Marvel Legends in this blog, but I'm gonna dive deeper.

Toy Sightings 03-25-11

I can't exactly classify this a s a toy haul. Since I only picked up one figure. The variant. I was gonna pick up the Grey Hulk which was awesome. I have the Red Hulk, got the Green Secret Wars Hulk so the Grey would be perfect. Each Hulk would be different. But I decided to wait until Sunday.

They also had Moon Knight which I really wanted. But again I will wait.

Here's what they had:

  • Black Panther
  • Black Widow
  • Jean
  • X-School Wolvie
  • Thor
  • Old Cap
  • Bucky
  • Moon Knight
  • Vision
  • Silver Surfer
  • Union Jack
  • A.I.M. Soldier
  • Grey Hulk
  • Secret Wars Wolvie/Torch
  • Secret Wars Doom/Absorbing Man.

Happy Hunting if you decide not to wait. I found this at the target in Queens Place.

Final Justice! Captain America Full Trailer

This video is full of awesome. But as a Nerd I have to whine about 2 things.
  • Garbage can shield (forshadowing)
  • How Red Skull reveals his true face. (In front of a captive audience.)

Besides that I like everything else. Can't wait.

How To Be A Toy Collector Part 2: Budget!

If you had all the money in the world, would you buy every toy you want?

This is a tough question. I'm sure most people would say "yes". But as a comic book fan when I found a way to be able to get every issue I wanted digitally I suddenly realized the folly that was my collecting desire.

There were times when I would just get issues just because I was a completest. And I recognize that this is the way my collecting brain works. I got all the Nerf guns I wanted and then I moved on. I got all the Iron Man 2 figures I wanted..and I moved on.

Bill Foster with Ragnarok: Exclusive To Walmart

For the longest time we have heard that the new series of Greatest Battles will nor be exclusive like they were in the past. But after seeing this review and noticing the box, there is a little sticker that says "Only at Walmart." Sigh...

Hasbro has somewhat rectified this probably with the Iron Man Legends series. It's possible that we could see a re-release of the old  Gigantic battles but that's a stretch.

Out of these new ones The Bill Foster one is the one I want most. Yes, I would love a comic accurate Loki but the design I like is the one that's currently part of the Avengers name statue thingy. Warming the pegs at Toys R Us.

Well at least I can always have my brother drive me to Wal*Mart. It's not like in the past where I had to take the LIRR to Valley stream and not find anything.

But even then. All the Wal*Marts I've visited are empty of any exclusives I want. I was only able to get the 6 inch War Machine and Iron Man mark VI was to travel to Pennsylvania! So I'm still miffed.

No so miffed is the fact that it looks like we will be getting the re-use of the Marvel Legends Icon Cyclops body, which Iok of "That Figures" says " it actually feels like a cheap knock-off. "

Goliath is a figure that I could live without, I would like to see what the Thor figure looks like though.

If I find it "Hooray!" If not, I got better things to collect.

Marvel Universe Jubilee!

Not the X-Man, although I would like to see one but I mean jubilee in the fact that the market is seeing a resurgance in old figures. And with that 2 for 10 sale it's a good thing.

I got a Vision!

I've been under the weather since Wednesday. So you have to forgive me for the brevity of this post.

I got these at Target. There was a Black Widow there also. I've also heard that Hulks (green & grey) are also coming back out.

If I'm right next Sunday we'll get the 2 for 10 sale. So start saving!

Haven't seen the new wave and they were supposed to come out this month. So I'm guessing end of the month.

Super Hero Squad Beta up and running

Ok Squaddies, time to HERO UP!

Me as The Falcon at the Daily Bugle
Me as Cyclops at the Baxter Building

A while back when I was enjoying the Super Hero Squad on various websites (Cartoon Network and Marvel.Com) I came across the video for the Super Hero Squad online. and I signed up for the beta. I know a lot of people do beta testing, but I just wanted to get my Marvel video game fix. (2 other games I enjoyed was Stark Tower Defense and Avengers Bunker Battles. They were free!)

Red Hulk: Marvel Universe Figure Review

I like Rulk better.

The Red Hulk's only coolness factor to me was that he was initially drawn by Ed McGuiness. At the time I thought that he was another phase of the Hulk, so I didn't pay him no mind. But actually knowing who he is, makes him kinda cool. Because as I was explaining to my brother about the Red Hulk (he had no idea) I also mentioned how I liked Joe Fixit and The Professor aka Smart Hulk.

So Rulk is like both of them combined.

The Jean Wave

So I went down to Manhattan today. Nothing new at toys r us, although the pegs were stocked with the Bucky wave.

I then went to midtown comics. And I found what I will be dubbing the Jean wave. The store had them for $12.99. And they had a least 5 of each.

Where To Shop For Toys In New York City and How!

In my time living in this great city I have visited many locales, and I've leraned many tricks and categorized my madness. It  wasn't an easy process it took years to analyse patternes and find routes to places in the name of Action Figure collecting.

I would love to start off historically, by saying which stores I discovered first. But in an effort to be visually pleaseing I'm gonna have to go according to which stores I have taken pictures of. The way I found directions to most of these stores was through a website called and then Google Maps.

If you live in NYC or are just visiting I hope this little guide will help you.

Toy Topic: The Universe

Mmm? How do I put this. Have you ever wished something to happen? What I mean is like you think you're going to find Bucky and then a few days later you find him on the pegs.

Or you're looking for that hard to find Classic Iron Monger. And then voila you find it.

It's a beautiful thing isn't it?

Repulsor Power War Machine

I went to Target today, after making a test post which I'm overwriting with this one. And I saw remnants of the Bucky wave. Everything was there except for the variants. But I saw something that surprised me.

Along with the new Repulsor Power Iron Man which adds some silver to the mix and has a different voice actor, without the electronic echo added. There was a repulsor Power War Machine.

I did not know of this things existence so it kinda caught me by surprise especially since Iron Man's referring to Rhodey in his voice clips. I was like if they only mad a War machine...and Blammo! There he was.

World War Hulk: Marvel Universe Figure Review

I never liked the Hulk, I can understand the concept since Stan Lee wanted to make him like Jekyll and Hyde. But how can you have someone who "Is the strongest there is" and who is uncontrollable as a good guy. The Hulk I remember is a force of nature (Hulk Smash!) and a brute. That's how he's portrayed in the movies.

My favorite Hulk forms are "The Professor" and "Joe Fixit" because he has his wits about him. Even though the transformations were wacky. Banner was permanently The Professor and Banner turned into Joe Fixit when nightfall would arrive. But this isn't about me and the Hulk..

Toy Haul NYC: Warpath on the loose!

This post is a kind of addendum to this video I made. I forgot to mention all the Warpaths I've seen.

This Sunday on my back home from work, I decided to visit the Target closest to my house. And LO! and BEHOLD! I saw Warpath and Ms. Marvel staring at me from the pegs. Since I had picked up 2 Warpaths before I decided to leave them on the shelves.

Captain Marvel: Marvel Universe Figure Review

Alrighty Then!

Why Did I Buy This Toy?:For some odd reason I like Captain Marvel. He hasn't been in any great crossovers, and about the biggest thing he did was die. But it's the Father/Son relationship in the comics that Marvel is best known for to me. Plus he would look good battling Thanos.

Toy Topic: Toy Nostalgia

I don't get it . Really I don't.

Nowadays there is a whole crop of people that love transformers. And I think it's even worse when young people say that the 80's cartoon is the best thing that ever was.

Inexpensive Nostalgia

I guess it's because..."I'M A DESIGN GUY!"

Toy Topic: Ending Your Collection?

This post is kinda a response to this webpost.

I've kinda been in this situation before, and it's a bit sad especially since I was 35 when it happened. But there comes a point in every collectors life when they say..

What am I going to do with all these toys?!!

This usually happens when you have to move out from one place to another. The first time this happened to me I ended up with this.

Carter A-259: Halo Reach Figure Review

Let me say this to start, "I'm a design guy!"

In my video review I reminisced, and waxed poetic over how I finally decided to buy this guy. But then my camera decided to neglect me on that. So I'm gonna have to do that here.

Marvel Studios Thor and X-Men First Class: Why I think they'll suck.

Forsooth! First off, I'd like to say that I like the Thor character and his design, and the interpretation in both Super Hero Squad and The Avengers Cartoon. So I don't hate the character, nor do I think he's lame.

I love the X-Men they were my entry into the Marvel Universe so they hold a special place in my fandom. If I had to pick between joining the Avengers or the X-Men, I would join the X-Men. (But then I would probably be a deformed mutant)
